Kid-Friendly Election 2008

November 3rd, 2008

With some saying this may be one of the most important elections we will ever experience, we’re sure your kids have many questions about the candidates and how the election process works.  We have to admit…even though we’re adults, we don’t know exactly how the electoral college process works or what the candidates stand for on issues such as education and the economy.  Thank goodness for Scholastic Books who have put together a kid-friendly “Election 2008″ website with election blogs, educational election games and campaign news from kid reporters.

Yoko Ono Wish Trees for Pasadena

November 2nd, 2008

From August 2, 2008 to November 9, 2008, Yoko Ono’s Wish Trees for Pasadena art installation has been on display at the Courtyard at One Colorado in Pasadena.  More than 80,000 visitors have been writing their wishes on pieces of paper and hanging them on the branches of 21 crape myrtle trees.

On November 9, 2008, these wishes will be “harvested”and sent to Yoko Ono, to be joined with others from around the world.  Later, they will be placed in specially constructed capsules in the area surrounding Yoko Ono’s Imagine Peace Tower on Videy Island, off the coast of Reykjavlk, Iceland.  Dedicated to the memory of John Lennon, the tower is lit for two months each year starting on October 9, John Lennon’s birthday, and ending on December 9, the anniversary of his death.

You only have 1 week left to submit your very own wish!  For more information, visit One Colorado or the Armory Center for the Arts.
